Portable Blenders for Beach Drinks: What to Check First
A portable blender is the difference between a frozen drink at the beach and a warm one. But the category is uneven. Many models handle soft fruit and not much else.
Checklist
- Ice crushing. This is the whole point for beach drinks. Look for reviews that show it handling ice, not only smoothies. Ask whether it needs liquid added first.
- Battery and charging. USB-C charging is convenient. Check how many blends per charge, and whether it works while charging.
- Capacity. Many are single-serve. Fine for one or two drinks; not for a group.
- Cleaning. Look for a self-clean mode or parts you can rinse quickly. Sticky drink residue is hard to deal with at the beach.
- Leak-proof base. You will toss it in a bag. Check that the lid seals.
- Noise and size. Some are very loud. Most are cup-sized.
Tips
- Freeze fruit instead of using lots of ice. It blends easier and tastes stronger.
- Pre-mix the liquid at home, and only blend at the beach.
- Charge it the night before and bring a USB power bank.
